My husband and I are back in Pittsburgh for a few weeks visiting family for the holidays, which means I’m eating much more chocolate and cookies than usual, and six hours away from my favorite yoga studio in Nashville. Not to worry, however: my fitness-focused in-laws have introduced me to a studio just around the corner from their home.
The Hott Spot Extreme Wellness Center may sound (and look) like a tag-along room to a salon added just when the yoga craze was becoming popular among young millennials, but a class there convinced me that a true effort was being made.
The instructor was the youngest I’ve ever had (17!) and seems to have a world full of things to learn in front of him, but he seemed to really care about his sequence and led confidently. The room was, thankfully, hot.
As my sis-in-law put it, it’s a great studio to go to if you already have some yoga knowledge. If you have a foundation of alignment, breath, and sequence, (I had to add my own counter poses). That being said, hott spot yoga is much better than no yoga, and it was great to get some spiritual movement interjected into the continuous Christmas cookie-eating.
